If you are currently live in Kathmandu, you must have heard or been to the restaurants where there are robot servers. And you even might think that’s the future of restaurants. But you might be surprised to know, that’s actually completely opposite of future.

Even though robots sounds quiet new, the first robot was invented back in 1921, and the first digitally operated and programmable robot was invented in 1954. While engineers tried to create robots as more human-like doing things how human does, it did not take them long to realize how wrong they were. Yes, those are same as ones that are somewhat serving in restaurants in Nepal.

SABOR V. the Robot, 1954

After the SABOR, engineers did not take long to realize that, those human-like robots were too slow and weren’t able to do basic jobs. Soon after, with industrial revolution, came robots that were built to do specific task fast. And that actually is turning out to be the robots of our present and future.

Everyone knows about industrial robots building cars. So, here’s are some newer and smaller ones which will be more common all over the world in next 5-10 years.

These robots cook salads as good as great chefs.

These robots are best inventory management workers.

These robots will check what’s missing in store selves and will also refill in future.

BUT WILL HUMAN LIKE ROBOTS COMPLETELY DISAPPEAR? Answer is NO. There’ll be faster, smarter human like robots backed with Artificial Intelligence and Machine learning that’ll be used by military for wars. One of such is Atlas made by Boston Dynamics, funded by United States Department of Defense. Keep in mind it’s still in prototype phase.
