Who had thought, a video of 2 minutes and 46 seconds can raise US$ 32,510.00 in 30 days (amount raised till the time I am writing this). And espcially, when that was from a small country called Nepal. But yes and hurray, HIGHWAY has done it.

This also proves that yes, we Nepali can make something that can appeal international audience as among . And what makes me proud is, it is a beginning…

So, What’s the BUZZ… !!

To those who don’t know, Highway is a Nepali movie directed by Deepak Rauniyar.

Deepak Rauniyar first garnered attention with his 2008 short film Chaukaith (Threshold). The film was an official selection of the 2009 Cannes Film Festival – Short Film Corner, and won the Special Jury Prize at the 2009 Ahmedabad International Film Festival and an award at the 2008 Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival. Deepak then directed a short film Pooja, and episodes of an award-winning drama series Sweet Tales of the Sarangi for BBC World Service Trust Nepal.

So, Where did that FUND came from?

With so beautifully crafted less than 3 minute trailer, HIGHWAY was able to be unnoticeable to the world. People like you and me pledged from &1.00 to $5000.00 through www.kickstarter.com, a website where people can post their ideas and people round the world can pledge in USD if they like it.

Actually, Deepak hasn’t been funded yet. WEDNESDAY NOV 9, 10:20AM EST is the time.

Lastly, I’ll be waiting for its release.

jai Nepal !
